Celebrating the life of
Willie Mae Burke
April 04, 1918 - June 14, 2009
Carrollton, GA - We celebrate the life of Willie Mae Burke, born April 4, 1918 and died June 14, 2009. As she entered heaven there is no doubt that Jesus said, "Well done thou good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord." As a member of the Riverside Baptist Church for more than 50 years, her desire was to help others know the loving and faithful God that she worshiped. She taught children's Sunday school, worked in Bible School, visited nursing homes and was actively involved in the visitation program of the church. Her gift was servanthood. When there was physical or financial need, she was there. She willingly gave to others and did what she could to meet their need. Never taking much for herself, she used her time, her resources and her energy to help and love those around her. She worked at Union Camp as an inspector for 30 years and was well respected by all who worked with her. She loved flowers and liked to garden. She sewed seeds of kindness everywhere she went following the example of Jesus where it says, "He went about doing good." She was preceded by her husband, Aaron J. Burke, son, Tommy Burke and great grandson, Bobby McKenzie.
She will be missed, loved and remembered by those she leaves behind, daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Rick Smith, grandchildren, Tommy and Tammy Burke, Jacky Burke, Merrit and Spencer Cornett, Jason and Becky Smith, great grandchildren, Aaron, Michael, Mitchell and Daphne Burke, Chadia Abou Thiab, great-great grandchildren, Sophia Savas and Angel Burke.

I remember my granny talking about her baby sister. My mom would go shopping in Savannah and we would stay at Aunt Willie Mae's'. She always had food prepared when we visited and she would warm our hearts with her smile.I will always cherish the memories of her love for others. I love you Aunt Willie Mae. My prayers go out to Joyce and her family.

I was just thinking of Aunt Willie Mae a few days ago. I will always remember the many times my mom took us over to visit when we were kids. She was such a sweet and loving person. She will be greatly missed.
